Lately the windmills I've been storming have actually been armchairs. For some reason I thought making such would be pretty straightforward.... it wasn't, for me at least. I've spent days planning, scetching and crafting, but I seem unable to produce neat, good-looking armchairs.
The first prototype was so hideous, it went in the trash unphotographed. Here are versions 2 (on the right) and three:
Mä en kertakaikkiaan saa aikaan tuoleja, joissa ei olis miljoona irvistelevää saumaa! Nämä tein kahdella eri tekniikalla, mut sama saumaongelma on molemmissa. Järki on mennä tätä kummastellessa!
I am apparently incapable of making upholstered furniture that doesn't have a gazillion ugly seams showing! I made these two chairs with different techniques, but the same problem with the seams persists. Does someone want to tell my how on earth you manage to make chairs and couches with neat and discreet seams? When I glue the fabric to the frame and then fold it over the edges, the folded bits of fabric on the flip side end up bunched (even if the fabric isn't thick at all) AND if I try to cut off the exess fabsic, the edges of saud fabric end up showing here and there on the finished chair. I'm going nuts with this!
The "fabric" used for these happily withstood glue well, but how do you fasten regular fabric to chair frames? When I try (using Tacky Glue) the glue seeps into and through the fabric and looks dreadful and splotchy when it dries??
