Hagrid

Löysin huutonetistä Hagridin, samaa sarjaa kuin aiemmin saamani Harry ja Voldemort :) Äijä on tietysti jättikokoinen, 22 cm - mahtuu Potter's Peakiin kun siellä on korkeet huoneet, muihin ei.

I found Hagrid online, from the same series as the Harry and Voldemort I got earlier :) He is of course huge, 22 cm - fits into Potter's Peak, which has high ceilings, but not into the other houses.

5 tuuman pituinen Voldemort on juuri sopiva Riddle's Rookiin - kärmes on tietenkin Nagini, vanha kirpparilöytöni. Voldyn taikasauva on irrotettavaa mallia.

The 5 inch Voldemort is just right for Riddle's Rook - the snake is of course Nagini, an old fleamarket find. Voldy's wand is detachable.

Aikuinen Harry on myös 5 tuumaa, samasta Tomyn sarjasta kuin Voldy-figuuri. Nuoren Harryn puolestaan sahasin irti kirpparilta löytämästäni pelistä, joka maksoi kokonaiset 2,50 euroa. Se on täydellistä kokoa ollakseen Albus Potter. Harmikseni Tomyn sarjassa ei ole Ginnyä. Toistaiseksi Ginnyn roolissa on tämä vanha kirpparilöytö, kunnes toivottavasti löydän paremman Ginnyn.

The grown Harry is also 5 inches tall, from the same figurine series by Tomy. The young Harry I sawed off a game I found at the fleamarket (it cost all of 2,50 euros) - of perfect size to be Albus Potter.  Unfortunately there is no Ginny in the Tomy series. For now this fleamarket find will do, until I hopefully find a better Ginny.

Alunperin väliaikainen Ginny oli kauhia hujoppi, miltei 3 senttiä Harrya pidempi.

Originally the temporary Ginny was a real beanpole and almost 3 cm taller than Harry.

Jouduin siis lyhentämään neidon raajoja ja kiinnitin sitten palaset yhteen jäykillä rautalangan pätkillä hammastikku-tyylillä. Onhan se vähän Frankensteinin morsianmainen, mutta täytyy väkertää sille vaatteet, jotka piilottaa saumat :D

So, I was forced to cut her down to size and then put her together with stiff wire, toothpick style.She does have a bit of a Frankenstein's bride-vibe, but I'll have to fix her some clothing to hide the joins :D

PP:n kautta sain pyramidiprojektiin egyptiläisen patsaan ja hieroglyfiaiheista kangasta, äiti puolestaan toi mulle askartelutarpeiksi kellon ja korun :)

Via PP I got material for my pyramid project in the form of a statue and fabric with hieroglyphs :) Mom brought me the watch and necklace :)

PP:n kautta sain nämäkin ihanuudet - viuhkan ja kangasta...

Voinee turvallisin mielin väittää harrastuksen vieneen mukanaan, kun huomaa TAAS ostaneensa nukkekodin! En voinut vastustaa, kun hieman leikeissä kuluneen mutta remontoitavissa olevan ihanuuden sai 6 eurolla!

I think it's safe to say that I've been swept away by this hobby, seeing as I've gotten yet ANOTHER dollhouse! I couldn't resist it, when I found this fixer upper for a mere 6 euros!

Muutama kauneusvirhe löytyy, mutta äkkiäkös nuo korjaa! Tai ainakin kuvittelen niin - en ole vielä saanut uutta ihmettä karvaisiin käsiini, mutta ihana kummityttöni ja miehekkeensä kävi hakemassa sen myyjältä tänään ja joko tällä tai ensi viikolla saan sen kotiin - en malta odottaa! It's taken a few knocks, but they should be easy to mend! At least I think so - I've yet to get my paws on it, but my wonderful goddaughter and her man picked it up from the seller today and I should get it home this or next week - can't wait! Voldyn sänky miltei valmis - Voldy's bed nearly completed

Voldemortin sänky on miltei valmis, vielä on tekstiilejä lisättävänä. Tässä päivän väkerrysten tulos.

Sängyn pelkistettyyn runkoon piti saada runsaasti "puuleikkauksia" ja materiaalilaatikoista löytyi siihen sopiva tapettipätkä, josta leikkasin tarvitsemani kohokuviot ja liimasin ne paikoilleen.

The simple bed frame needed lots of "wood carvings" and among my materials I found a bit of suitable wallpaper, from which I cut out the embossed bits I needed and glued them to the frame.

Maalasin tapettikohdat mustalla akrylimaalilla.

I painted the bits of wallpaper with black acrylic paint.

Näitä maalattuja tapettikoristeita laitoin runsaasti ympäri sänkyä ja lakkasin ne maalauksen jälkeen matalla lakalla. Sängyn katoksen päälle liimasin vanhoja shakkinappuloita koristeiksi. Mietin kyllä ovatko liian selkeesti shakkinappuloita, mutta mielestäni eivät?  Päätyyn pikaliimasin hopeisen käärmeriipuksen ja jalkopäädyn tolppien ympäri kiedoin kirpparilta ostamani kumikäärmeet ja liimasin ne pikaliimalla haluamaani muotoon.

I glued on lots of these painted wallpaper bits and finally topped them with matte varnish. 4 old chess pieces serve as "spires" on top of the canopy - I was worried that they might be too obviously chess pieces but I think not? I glued a silver cobra on the headboard and finally entwined two rubber snakes (bought at the fleamarket) around the posts at the foot of the bed, using Super Glue to drape them the way I wanted.

Oon äärettömän tyytyväinen lopputulokseen! Siitä tuli juuri sellanen kuin olin haaveillut. Vielä kun osaisi viimeistellä sen kauniisti tekstiilein!

I'm immensly pleased with the result! It turned out just the way I'd imagined it. Now I just hope I can add the fabrics properly!

Mieletön lahja muksuilta! - A wonderful gift from the kids!

Ostin krakleerausainetta ja magneettiteippiä, jälkimmäistä pääosin jottei Heron Housen etuovi koko ajan aukeaisi itekseen.

Bought a crackle medium and magnetic tape, the latter primarily to try to keep the front door of Heron House from opening on its own.

Kirpparilta - From the fleamarket

Tein tuossa kirpparikierroksen ja tässä tulos :) Lähdin hakemaan Voldemortille käärmeitä ja niitä ilokseni löytyikin :) Lisäksi tarttui mukaan säläpussi, jossa oli tuo kultainen kehys. Sen mukana tulleille helmille ja simpukalle löytyy varmaan myös käyttöä. Pussi maksoi hulppeat 60 senttiä. Muovipulloihin on hyvä sekotella värejä ja velhohattuiset pehmokurpitsat oli söpöjä. Potterit saivat lisäpöllön pöllölläänsä ja koristerasiasta tullee pöytä.

I did the rounds at the fleamarkets and here's the result :) I had hoped to find snakes for Voldemort and was happy to find several of perfect size :) I also bought a little bag of odds and ends for the steep prize of 60 cents - I bought it for the golden frame, but the beads that came along will nodoubt prove useful too. The plastic bottles are great for mixing paints and the pumpkins in wizard's hats were just plain cute. The Potters got yet another owl and the ornamental box will no doubt become a table.

 Oon suunnitellut lasimaalauksia nukkikseen ja jotain värejä onkin jo, mutta oon toivonut voivani ostaa tuota "Simultated Liquid Leading"-ainetta kun siihen olisi varaa - kuinka ollakaan sitä ja värejä löytyi kirpparilta! Vielä on kokeilematta toimiiko ne, mut koko satsi maksoi pari euroa :)

I'm planning some colorful windows for the dollhouses and have some colors already. I had planned to buy Simulated Liquid Leading at some point when my budget allows - so I was thrilled to find some at a fleamarket together with some colors! I've yet to try them out so not sure if they're still okay, but the whole batch cost 2 euros :)

Ihmettelin miksei Lublub tullut ulos kutsuttaessa ja kun menin kattomaan oli vastassa tämä: salukityttöni Lublub sotkeutuneena pussilakanaan, nolo hymy huulillaan :D Mun hassu <3

I wondered why Lublub didn't come outside when called and when I went to look, here's what I found: my Saluki girl Lublub caught up in the sheets, with a sheepish smile to boot :D Silly girl <3

Voldmortin sänky - Voldemort's bed

Hitaasti mutta varmasti väkerrän Voldemortin sänkyä - homma on vielä kesken, mutta aattelin vähän kartottaa syntyvaiheita. Tässä kuosissa ollaan nyt:

Slowly but surely I'm building Voldemort's bed - it's not finished yet, but I thought I'd chronicle the progress so far. This is how it looks now:

Tästä lähdettiin - kirjan kannet, Bilteman sytykkeitä, kulmalistaa, kaks pyöreetä mehujäätikkua, kahdet puukehykset, joista poistin lasit ja taustat, sekä kolmannesta toisenlaisesta kehyksestä irrotin taustan sänngynpohjaksi:

Here's the starting point - book covers, kindling (from Biltema, very neat, sanded and sturdy), fillets, two round popsicle sticks, two wooden frames (from which I removed the glass and back) and the back from a third frame of a different model:

Sängyn pohja on vanhan kehyksen tausta, johon liimasin kulmalistat ja sytykkeistä tehdyt reunat:

The bottom of the bed is the back of an old frame, to which I glued fillets and sideboards made of kindling:

Maalasin koko systeemin mustalla akrylivärillä ja lakkasin puolihimmeellä kalustelakalla:

I painted the whole thing with black acrylic paint and finished with semi-matt furniture varnish:

Käsittelin puukehykset samalla tavoin ja leikkasin askarteluveitsellä niihin sopivat keskustat kirjan kansista:

I treated the wooden frames the same way and used a craft knife to cut suitable centers for them from the book cover:

I cut out a suitably sized piece of cardboard and glued this soft, thin packing material on it:

Ostin aiemmin kirpparilta jakun, jonka kangas on käärmekuvioista. Siitä leikkasin sopivan palan ja päällystin kevysti pehmustetun pahvinpalasen sillä ja kiinnitin kankaan pahvin taustaan kömpelösti Tacky Gluella ja maalarinteipillä :D

A while back I bought a snakeskin patterned shirt from the fleamarket. I cut out a piece of the fabric and used it to cover the lightly upholstered cardboard, then clumsily attached the fabric to the back using Tacky Glue and masking tape :D

Kokosin sängyn erinäisten kehysten osista ja mehujääpuikkoja käyttäen, liimasin kevyesti topatun ja päällystetyn pahvinpalasen katoksen päälle ja tein sitten samalla tavalla paksumman patjan:

I assembled the bed from the various frames and popsicle sticks, glued the lightly upholstered cardboard on the top of the canopy and then made a mattress using the same technique but with more stuffing:

Katos ja sängynpääty siis noita kirjan kannella koristeltuja kehyksiä (olisko Ikean? Kirpparilta nekin, kolme eurolla). Samanlaisista kehyksistä sahasin palasen jalkopäädyksi ja laitoin siihenkin kirjan kannen osia molemmin puolin. Tolppina on tietenkin ne mehujääpuikot, jotka nekin maalasin ja lakkasin. Täytyis kyllä saada joku pikkupora että vois tehdä puuliitoksia, nyt kaikki on liitetty ihan vaan pikaliimalla:

The canopy and headboard are of course frames (Ikea's maybe? From the fleamarket, three for a euro) decorated with bits of book cover. The third identical frame I sawed to fit at the end of the bed and fitted that too with the book cover on both sides. The posts are of course from painted and varnished popsicle sticks. I really hope to get a small drill at some point so I could assembly stuff like this with wood fittings/joints, now everything is held together with Super Glue:

I really am hopeless though, however much I measured I still managed to make it a bit crooked *lots of eye rolling*
