Sisäpintojen pohjamaalaus - Priming the interior

Olin antanut kertoa itselleni, että Heron Hallin sisäpinnoille olis hyvä tehdä pohjamaalaus, joten tuumasta toimeen. Se kuulosti kauheen yksinkertaselta, mut se olikin parin päivän projekti, ainakin mulle :D Purin talon osittain ja totesin, että lienee paras suojata ikkunat. Jo siihen meni muutama tunti, kun mittaillin ja mallailin sopivia pahvipaloja kuhunkin ikkunaan. Päätiin myös käyttää tilaisuutta hyväkseni ja tein kunkin huoneen jokasesta seinästä, lattiasta ja katosta pahvimallit, joihin on helpompi mallailla tapetteja sun muita kun talo on koossa. ONNEKS älysinkin tehdä sen, huomasin että oviaukot esim. erosivat hiukan toisistaan. Sitten piti vielä liimailla maalarinteippiä joka sivuun, saumaan ja saranaan ja sen jälkeen vedin kolme kerrosta maalia kaikkiin maalattaviin pintoihin, sillä kuten mua olikin varotettu, toi levy (liekö sitten mdf?) imi maalia kuin sieni. Annoin jokasen kerroksen kuivua rauhassa ennen seuraavaa rundia ja olin mahdottoman kiitollinen ostamastani pienestä superlon-telasta, joka helpotti operaatiota kummasti - maali löytyi omasta takaa, nimittäin rempasta jäänyttä sisämaalia.

I was told that it would be wise to prime the interior surfaces of Heron Hall, so I got busy. It sounded simple enough, just slapping paint on, but at least for me it turned out to be a big, two-day project :D I partially disassembled the house and realized that it'd be best to protect the windows -  just cutting out cardboard pieces of the right shape and measurements for the windows took a few hours. I also carped the diem (that's TOTALLY Latin ;D) and made cardboard templates of all the walls, ceilings and floors, figuring that it would make it easier to measure out wallpaper etc. later. VERY happy about that, particularly since I realized that doorways etc. weren't identical eventhough they looked it. Then I spent a lot of time putting masking tape on all the sides, seams and hinges to protect them from paint splatter and finally gave all the interiors three coats of paint. I'd been warned that this material (mdf maybe?) soaks up paint like a sponge, which was certainly the case. I let each coat dry before painting on the next one and was very grateful for the small Superlon paint roller I'd bought. The paint was just regular indoor paint, left over from our 1:1 renovation.
