Kuinka äkäpussi kesytetään - The taming of the shrew

Kuten olen ikuisuuksia selitellyt, kiirettä on pitänyt ja taikamineilyt ovat olleet telakalla. Griseldan muutettua naapurustoon minimaailma on kutsunut entistäkin voimallisemmin, sillä noita pitää huolen siitä, ettei  asia pääse unohtumaan hetkeksikään. Yritä siinä tehdä hommia koneella, kun akka keikkuu näytön päällä kummastelemassa miten tommonen aakkossotku voi olla tärkeämpää kuin rästissä olevat rempat.

As I've been saying ad nauseam, I've been very busy and my magical minimania has had to take the backseat for a spell (no pun intended). The call of the small has been even more difficult to ignore since Griselda moved to the neighborhood. The witch makes certain of that. It's very hard to try to concentrate on working at the computer, when the hag balances of top of the screen loudly marvelling over how such alphabet soup could possibly be more important than all the building that needs to be done.

Epätoivoissani annoin Griseldalle äidin luota hortoilemasta löytyneen (tilapäisen) orvonkin, josko se  pitäisi tädin kiireisenä:

In my desperation I gave her a wee (temporary) orphan I found wandering at mom's place, hoping he'd keep her busy:

Vanhaksi akaksi Griselda on hämmästyttävän energinen ja tylsistyy helposti, joten hää oli aivan liekeissä kun posti toi aarteita. Käärmeennahka ihastutti:

For an old bag Griselda is surprisingly energetic and easily bored, so she was all over the mail when she realized the postman had brought us treasures:

Ikkunat innostivat ymmärrettävästi eniten, varsinkin kun kerroin tilanneeni ne varta vasten Griseldan tulevaa mökkiä varten. Alkoi kuumeinen mallailu ja suunnittelu, jonka ansiosta saatoin vähin äänin liueta takaisin koneelle hommiin.

She was understandably most enthused by the windows, particularly after I told her I'd ordered them expressly for her future cottage. That set off feverish planning and measuring, which allowed me to quietly slip back to the computer.
