Uusia ostoksia - New purchases

Löysin halvalla tämän Patricia Kingin nukkiskirjan - ennestään mulla on saman kirjailijan tulisijoihin keskittyvä kirja. Nää on aivan ihania, ohjeet on selkeitä ja sopivat mulle, sillä nekin tehdään kierrätysmateriaaleista ilman hienoja työkaluja ja hyvin samaan tapaan kuin itsekin piiperrän. Vielä en ole kerennyt kokeilemaan itse kirjan ohjeita, mutta se on inspiroiva ja innostaa kyllä näpertelemään, tuloksista lisää myöhemmin.

I found this book by Patricia King cheaply - I also have her book on stoves and fireplaces. I love these books, the tutorials are easy to grasp and are very similar to the way I work, with fiddly recycled materials and without specialized tools. I haven't tried the tutorials in the book yet, but just reading it inspired me to do some fiddling of my own, more about that later.

Ystäväni Tuija oli tosi kultainen ja haki mulle Tigerista muissa nukkisblogeissa hehkutetun pikaripelin ja näitä hammastikkuja. Eijulista keksi että niistä saa hyviä kynttilöitä, kiitos vinkistä! Lisäksi Tuija oli löytänyt kaks sulosta hauvaa, jotka nyt lämmittelevät Griseldan kanssa kaminan äärellä :) Suurkiitos Tuija!!

My friend Tuija was so sweet and picked these up for me at Tiger. I just had to have the cup stacking game after seeing it in many dollhouse blogs. Also, Eijulista had the great idea that these colorful plastic tooth picks make great candles, thanks for the tip! Tuija also brought me these sweet dogs, that are now enjoying the warmth of the stove together with Griselda :) Thank you Tuija!!

Loistava kirja - A great book

Olen pitkään halunnut tätä kirjaa ja vihdoin löytyi yksi joka oli tarpeeksi halpa mun kukkarolleni. Tämä on aivan loistava kirja, hauskasti kirjotettu ja täynnä upeita, selkeitä ohjeita - ja mikä parasta, ohjeita joissa hyödynnetään kierrätystavaraa eikä niihin tarvita kummosia työkaluja! Suosittelen lämpimästi!

I've long wanted this book and finally found a copy cheap enough for my wallet. This is a fabulous book, well written and funny and full of gorgeous, easily understood tutorials - and best of all, the tutorials utilize recycled bits and bobs that are easily to hand and they don't require specialized tools! I warmly recommend it!

Santa had picked these up at the store Pikku Nukkekotikauppa. They are Greenleaf's vinyl tiles, exactly the kind I've been needing! The pic shows one batch, I got two, so there's plenty of material there!

Taaskaan en ole kerennyt kuin selailemaan näitä uusia kirjoja, mut laitetaan nyt ensivaikutelmia sentään :)

I've again of course only had time to skim these, but here are a few first impressions :)

Jean Nisbettin kirja nimensä mukaisesti paksu opus, jossa on paljon upeita kuvia, kattaen niin perinteiset tyylisuunnat kuin modernit aikakaudet. Ohjeita on jonkun verran, samoin vinkkejä niin keräilijöille kuin näpertelijöille. 1/24-skaalan töille on myös oma osionsa. Vaikuttaa tuhdilta tietopaketilta - kuvat on inspiroivia ja ohjeet yksinkertaisia ja selkeitä.

Jean Nisbett's book is true to its name: a big 'un with lots of gorgeous pics, tips and instructions that cover the traditonal period projects as well as modern ones. There's something for both builders and collectors and also a chapter on 1/24 scale projects. This appears to be a useful encyclopedia of sorts - the pics are inspiring and the instructions look simple and clear.

Tää on upea kirja oman nukkekodin rakentamisesta ja kattaa kuusi projektia, verrattain yksinkertaisesta monimutkaisempaan - joskin tämmösen ummikon silmin yksinkertasinkin näyttää ydinfysiikalta - mutta upeelta! Ja kutkuttavalta - tuun taatusti kokeilemaan näitä jonain päivänä *toivoo pääsevänsä sille tasolle joskus* kirjassa on siis yksityiskohtaset piirrustukset ja ohjeet kuuteen projektiin - löytyy viktoriaaninen kauppa, yrjöjenaikainen talo, olkikattoinen mökki, kalastajamökki ja tudortyylinen talo.

This is a fabulous book on building your own dolls' houses from scratch, with detailed instructions from relatively simple designs to more complex ones - although to the eyes like a complete novice like me, they all look daunting - but fabulous! And inviting - I will definitely try my hand at these eventually! The plans are for 6 houses: a Victorian shop, a Georgian house, a thatched cottage, a fisherman's cottage and a Tudor house.

Tää näyttää aivan erityisen mielenkiintoselta - ohjeet ovat yksinkertasia ja selkeitä ja ne on esitetty tavalla, joka oikeen kutsuu kokeilemaan niitä. Kuvat ja ideat on komeita mutta vaikuttavat sellaisilta, joita alottelijakin vois uskaltautua kokeilemaan. Kivaa tässä on myös, että kierrätysideoita on paljon ja sekin tekee tästä jotenkin helpommin lähestyttävän, eritoten tämmöiselle vähävaraiselle näpertelijälle. Ensivaikutelma on, että tästä saattaa tulla mun lemppari :)

This book is particularly interesting - the instructions are simple and clear and they are presented in a very appealing way, which invites the reader to try them. The pics and ideas are impressive yet seem acessible even to the novice. Another very nice aspect of the book is that it contans a lot of ideas for recycling materials and that too makes it appealing, particularly for someone with a small budget. My first impresson is that this may become my favorite :)

Eka nukkekotikirjani - My first dollhouse book

Kun nyt esittelin uudet nukkekotikirjani, niin tässä vielä ensimmäiseni, äidiltä ja Saralta :) Tää onkin varsin loistava kirja, varsinkin tämmöselle alottelijalle - selkeet ja helpot ohjeet :)

Vielä en ole kerennyt kuin lehteilemään tätä läpi, mutta näyttää oivalliseltä selkeine ohjeineen - näkyi oleva sellaisia juttuja, joiden tekemistä oon miettinyt, tästä on vamasti apua ja ohjeet näyttävät olevani sellasia, joita voi soveltaa niin noviisin kuin edistyneemmän nukkistelijan näpertelyihin.

I've only had time to browse through this, but it looks promising, with clear instructions and tips - it has stuff I've been thinking about doing and seems to have useful tips for both novices and more advanced dollhouse enthusiasts.

Tätä seuraavaakin olen vasta selaillut, mut näyttää tosi mielenkiintoselta - ohjeet on selkeet ja projekteja on porrastettu niin, että on ohjeita noviiseille, keskitason näpertelijöille ja edistyneemmille puusepille. Nää ohjeet vaatii jo kunnon välineet, joskin ohjeita voi soveltaa muuhunkin kuin puutöihin. Toivottavasti pääsen tälle puuntyöstön tasolle jonain päivänä!

This next one I've again only browsed through, but it looks very interesting - the instructions are clear and there are projects for novices, slightly more advanced and very skilled carpenters. These instructions do require proper woddworking tools, but I think some can be adapted to other materials as well. I hope I can advance to this level of woodworking some day!

Uusi nukkekotikirja! - A new dollhouse book!

Löysin tän nukkekotikirjan huokeella huutonetistä, aivan ihana ja antaa paljon ideoita :) Tätä lueskelee ihan ilokseen, hyvien vinkkien ja kirjallisten ohjeiden ohella se on jotenkin viihdyttävä, siitä välittyy kirjottajan innostus ja edistyminen harrastuksessa.

I found this dollhouse book cheap on the web - a lovely find and a great source of ideas :) It's an enjoyable read, in addition to good tips and written instructions it is quite entertaining and let's you take part in the writer's enthusiasm and her learning experiences.
