Vino pino synttärilahjoja - A ton of birthday gifts

Juhlistettiin vihdoin oikeen virallisesti mun ja äidin alkuvuoden sekä siskoni Saran elokuisia synttäreitä näin jälkijunassa! Mukavaa oli vaikka vain noin puolet vieraista pääsi paikalle kun taivaalta tupsahti lunta ja monilla oli vielä kesärenkaat alla. Alla nukkisaiheisia lahjojani, joiden lisäksi sain aivan ihanan 1:1 salukitaulun Pirjolta ja Ranjalta - kiitos!! - ja yhtä ihanan salukikaulakorun äidiltä - kiitos mamma <3

We finally held a proper party for my mom's 60th and my 40th birthday which were as early as February and my little sister Sara's 23rd which was in August! We had fun eventhough half our guests couldn't get here because of the weather. Below are my dollhouse gifts. I also got a 1:1 Saluki painting from Pirjo and Ranja - thank you!! - and an equally lovely Saluki necklace from my mom - thank you <3

Mutta tässä Heliltä saamani vino pino nukkistavaraa - KIITOS Heliliini!!! Tuommonen musta härpäke mikä alunperin lienee ollut tuhkis, mutta josta saa oivan tuolin; ihana tuikkutakka ja ihan täydellinen brittiläinen puhelinkoppi, josta tietysti tulee taikaministeriön vierailijasisäänkäynti - puhelinta vaan täytyy tuunata :)

But here are the very many dollhouse items Heli gave me - THANK YOU!!! The black thingy is actually an ashtray but makes a perfect dollhouse chair; a lovely ceramic fireplace and a perfect British phone box which will of course become the visitors' entrance to the Ministry of Magic - just need to fix up the phone a bit :)

Heliltä sain myös huikean kirjan Potter-leffojen teosta. Siitä voi ammentaa ideoita vaikka kuinka ja välistä löytyy kaikkea ihanaa kuten Harryn Tylypahka-kirje, kelmien kartta ja huispauksen maailmanmestaruuskisojen esite jne. Päiviltä & Antilta taas sain tuon ihastuttavan nukkekotikirjan, jota on ihana lueskella ja siitäkin bongailee massoittain ideoita! Kiitos kaikille!

Heli also gave me this great book about the making of the Potter movies. It is chock full of ideas for Potter-related projects and between the pages are great collector's items like harry's Hogwarts letter, the Marauders' Map and a broechure on the Quidditch World Cup, among others. Päivi & Antti gave me the lovely dollhouse book - a lovely read and it too is full of inspirational ideas! Thank you all!

Erilaisia minejä - Minis of a different kind

Tällaiset minit työllistävät ja ilahduttavat mua tällä hetkellä <3 Liisasin kasvatini Reaverin (miljoona tsiljoona kiitosta Päivi!!!) ja astutuin sen toisella kasvatillani Valolla (yhtä monta triljoonaa kiitosta Tuija!!!) ja heidän liittonsa tuloksena pentulaatikossa tuhisee nyt 7. aavikkolinjainen (alkuperämaiden linjoista) salukipentueeni. Kolme komeaa kundia ja yksi kaunis kimma: Laaban, Lablab, Lamaan (joka myös Siriuksena tunnetaan) sekä Labua.

These are the minis that keep me both busy and blissful at the moment <3 I leased a bitch I've bred, Reaver (a gazillion thanks Päivi!!!) and mated her with a male from my breeding, Valo (just as many thanks to Tuija!!!) and the fruits of their union are now in my whelping box - my 7th Saluki litter from COO (country of origin) lines. Three strapping young lads and one beautiful lass: Laaban, Lablab, Lamaan (also known as Sirius) and Labua.

Tylypahkan tarvehuone! - Hogwarts' Room of Requirement!

Eihän mulla ois ollu varaa, satsi kun maksoi 25 euroa, mutten voinut olla ostamatta tätä kun löysin sen huutonetistä ja se vielä sattui sijaitsemaan Hämeenlinnassa eli ei tullut postikulujakaan. Kerran jo ohitin tällaisen ja oon siitä asti harmitellut etten sitä ostanut, joten nyt oli aivan pakko kuunnella sisäistä lastani... Ja mä oon kyllä liikuttavan onnellinen tästä lelustani :D

Samaan sarjaan kuuluu lisää hahmoja, rohkelikon oleskeluhuone ja Tylypahkan sali, mutta niitä tuskin koskaan löydän käypään hintaan.

Ostin siis tuollaisen Tylypahkan tarvehuoneen, jonka mukana tuli taikasauva (Odotum suojelius!) ja neljä nukkea: McGarmiwa, Harry, Ron ja Cho. Nuket on kooltaan noin 10 cm.

I really couldn't afford this, strictly speaking, as it was 25 euros, but I couldn't resist it when I found it online and saw that it was located nearby so there was no postage added. I passed up one of these earlier and have been kicking myself since then, so I had to heed my inner child this time... And I really am gleeful over this toy of mine :D

There are more figurines, a Gryffindor common room and a Great Hall in the series, but I doubt I'll ever find those at a reasonable price.

It's the Hogwarts Room of Requirement, a magic wand (Expecto Patronum!) and four dolls: McGonagall, Harry, Ron and Cho. The dolls are approximately 4 inches tall.

Ajattelisin, että uudet Harry ja Ron voisivat käydä Pottereiden ja Weasleyen lapsista. Uusi Harry olisi siis James, vaikka se onkin näemmä sirompi ja pienipäisempi kuin pikkuveljensä Albus :D Ehkä se ei haittaa jos ne laittaa eri huoneisiin ;)

I'm thinking that the new Harry and Ron could be sons of the Potters and the Weasleys. The new Harry would be James, although it appears he is smaller in frame and head than his younger brother Albus :D Maybe it won't be so bad ifI put them in separate rooms ;)

Sain taas lahjoja! - Got gifts again!

Kooooovin on hiljaista näpräilyrintamalla mutta materiaalia siunaantuu niin, että pian on ihan pakko ruveta hommiin taas! Juri nyt on näpit täynnä toisenlaista miniä, sitä lisää kohta :) Tuhannet tsiljoonat kiitokset Kupiloille näistä ihanuuksista, jotka löysin pihaporttini luota yksi kaunis päivä <3 On puuta, sutia, ruuvia, on maalia vaikka millä mitalla ja vielä ruuvikone terineen ja latureineen! Joka muuten tuli tosi tarpeeseen muutenkin kuin mineilyn osalta!

Veeeeeeeeeeeeery quiet on the crafting front but I've gotten so much material that I just have to get back into the swing of things soon! Right now I have my hands full with minis of another kind, more on that later! A gazillion thanks to the Kupilas for these treasures that had been left at my gate one fine day <3 Wood, paint brushes, screws, lots and lots of paint and a drill machine with bits and a charger! Very useful not just for miniature stuff!

Lisäksi satsissa oli mm. lisää maalisuteja, askarteluveitsi terineen sekä kultaisia koristeita! Hiukan hihkuin itsekseni!

There were also more paint brushes, an exacto knife with various blades and golden trinkets! I was whooping to myself to no end!

Postissa puolestaan löytyi nämä, suuret kiitokset lahjoittajille, joiden nimiä en häpeäkseni nyt muista *punastelee raivokkaasti* Herkullisia helmiä ja pikkuesineitä sekä ihanaa turkista!

Syysmasis ja remppahaaveita - SAD and dreaming of renovations

Syysmasennusta pukkaa eikä mistään meinaa tulla mitään. Näpertelyinspistä olis, muttei energiaa toteuttaa sitä. Mieluiten vaan nukkuis, eilen sentään sain siivottua 1:1 ja huomenna jatkan pentulan pykäilyä, sillä meille on pitkästä aikaa tulossa salukipentuja <3 Sen viimeistään luulisi piristävän!

Oon tässä tillittänyt Marvolo Manoria ja luulenpa, että haluaisin tehdä julkisivun mustasta marmorista, jossa on kultaiset suonet (maalaten toteutettuna tietenkin). Ikkunan- ja ovenpuitteet sun muut vois sit tehdä kulahtaneen kultaisiksi, ehkä mustalla krakleerattuna. Simmonen tosi synkkä mutta pröystäilevä kokonaisuus siis, tuntuis Voldemortin tyyliltä. Täytyisi vaan jossain vaiheessa olla varaa ostaa kunnon pöntöllinen mustaa maalia ja toinen kultaista, about alla olevan sävyistä. Luoja vaan tietää millon siihen on varaa. Kauhea hinku olis myös piristävälle kirpparikierrokselle, mutta eipä ole varaa siihenkään *synkkää mutinaa*

I'm suffering from a bout of SAD and not getting anything done. Now and then inspiration for crafts strikes, but I can't seem to actually work up the energy to put those ideas into practice. Mostly I'd just like to hibernate, yesterday I did finally get around to some 1:1 house cleaning and tomorrow I'll continue getting the whelping room ready, as we are finally expecting Saluki puppies again <3 That should at least get me out of this funk!

I've been staring at Marvolo Manor and concluded that I think I'd like to make the facade out of faux black marble with golden veins (done in paint of course). Window sills, doorways etc. could be painted in the same aged gold, perhaps with black crackling. A dark and sinister yet ostentatious facade seems like Voldemort's style. So, now I need a big tub of black paint and another with gold paint, approximately the shade seen below. God only knows when I'll have enough money for the paint though. I am SO longing for a tour of the fleamarkets too, it'd do my mood a world of good, but I can't afford that either *dark muttering*

Piipahdin pikaisesti kierrätyskeskuksessa eilen kun satuin olemaan kulmilla ja löysin nämä lasinaluset ja pikkuisen lautasen kahdella eurolla - askartelumatskuksi totta kai, loistavia pöytälevyjä!

I nipped into the recycling center since I happened to be in the neighborhood and found these coasters and the little plate for 2 euros. Excellent material for tabletops!

Esittelyssä Marvolo Manor - Introducing Marvolo Manor

Uusi nukkekotini (löytyi huutonetistä taannoin 6 eurolla!) pääsi vihdoin pois pahvilaatikosta ja sai paikan olohuoneesta. Samalla varmistui että siitä tulee Voldemortin salainen kartano. Voldyn tornipiilo Riddle's Rook:kin on työn alla, mut tokihan lordilla voi olla kaksikin pytinkiä, varsinkin kun hää on piileskelevää sorttia. Herran kartano sai nimen Marvolo Manor. Riddle's Rook on selkeesti 1:12 skaalaa, Marvolo Manor taas pikemminkin 1:14, jollei peräti  pienempi, en tiedä mikä Lundbyn (klassinen 1:16) huonekorkeus mahtaa olla? Voldyn hieno kärmessänky ei siis mahdu kartanoon vaan saa pitää paikkansa tornipiilossa.

My new dollhouse (that I found online a while back for 6 euros!) was finally freed from the cardboard box it was in and has now found a place in the living room. Having looked at it for a while I decided to make it Voldemort's secret manor house. Voldy's tower hideaway Riddle's Rook is also under construction, but surely a Lord can have two properties, particularly since he's the lurking kind. I named this estate Marvolo Manor. Riddle's Rook is in 1:12 scale, while Marvolo Manor is 1:14 if not smaller - not sure how high the rooms are in the classic 1:16 Lundby houses? Anyway, this means that Voldy's ostentatious snake bed won't fit into the Manor, so it'll keep it's place in the Rook.

Voldy on omaksunut työnjohtajan roolin, jotta saa mieleisensä puitteet.

Voldy has taken the reigns in the contruction to make sure the decor is to his liking.

Huonejärjestys on hiljalleen muotoutumassa. Tuonne koristeelliseen lisäsiipeen tulee ainakin jonkunlainen huvimajan ja kylpylän sekasikiö. Vintille tulee kylppäri ja varmaan jonkulainen palvelijain huone. Kakkoskerrokseen arvatenkin työhuone ja makkari ja alakertaan olohuone/salonki ja keittiö.

I've slowly mapped out the general layout. The ornamental wing will be a sort of folly/bathhouse. The attic will have servantä's quarters and a bathroom, the second floor will house Voldy's bedroom and his study and the ground floor will have the living room/salon and kitchen.

Ihanuuksia Johannalta - Treasures from Johanna

Johanna ja Lauri koirineen olivat kylässä, oli tosi mukavaa :) Johannalla oli myös ihastuttavia tuliaisia. Nämä pikkuruiset huonekalut on aivan ylisöpöjä - ne löytää paikkansa sekä Pottereiden että  kotitonttujen talon lastenhuoneesta :)

Johanna, Lauri and their dogs visited and we had a nice time :) Johanna brought me these lovely goodies. The teeny tiny wooden furniture is adorable - they will be placed in the kids' roomas of the Potters and the house elves :)

Johannalla oli mukana myös pussillinen solkia (niistä kuvaa myöhemmin) sekä tällaisia herkullisia kangas-, nahka- ja nauhapaloja <3 Suurkiitos!!

Johanna also bought me a bag of buckles (pics of those later) and delicious fabric, leather and ribbons <3 Thank you so much!!

Kuningatar on poissa, kauan eläköön Kuningatar! - The Queen is gone, long live the Queen!

Farha lähti tänään vehreämmille metsästysmaille 13-vuotiaana pystypäin, omilta jaloilta, arvokkaasti kuten elikin. Sielu oli vahva, mutta elimistö alkoi pettää ja hyvästien aika tuli - liian pian.

 Farha left for greener hunting pastures today at 13 years - with grace and dignity, as she lived her life. Her spirit was strong but her body tired and so came the time for our goodbyes - too soon.

Farha oli mun kaikkeni - mun ja Suomen eka aavikkosaluki, se, joka sai mut totaalisesti näihin linjoihin hurahtamaan ja joka opetti  mulle niin kovin paljon rodusta - mun kantanarttuni hengessä, jos ei geeneissä. Ennen kaikkea se oli mun Sieluni Sisar, mun Sydämeni Valtiatar, mun Uskollinen Varjoni, se mun koirista joka on aina ollu nimenomaan MUN koira, koko sielultaan ja sydämeltään MUN ja vain MUN. Ja mä SEN. Siitä hetkestä kun se 9-kuisena saapui aavikolta Suomen hyytävään helmikuuhun, me oltiin erottamattomat. En millään olisi ollut valmis siitä vielä luopumaan. Kiitos kaikesta, Aarteeni <3 <3 <3

Yö ja päivä meni kerätessä voimia antaa sen mennä edeltä niin kuin aina metsässä kun tiehen tuli mutka, ja Farha käänty katsomaan saiko mennä edeltä, lähtien mutkan taa vasta kun oli saannu luvan. Ja tiedänhän mä, niin kuin oon tienny sillonkin, että se oottaa mua siellä mutkan takana, kun mä siihen joskus tulen.

Farha was my everything - Finland's and my first COO Saluki, who made me fall utterly in love wiith COO lines and taught me so very much about the breed. My foundation bitch in sprit, if not in genes. Above of she was the Sister of my Soul, the Queen of my Heart, my Loyal Shadow. Of all my dogs she was the one most completely MINE and MINE alone, body and soul - as I was HERS. From the moment she arrived from the desert into the harsh Finnish winter at 9 months of age, we were inseparable. I wasin no way ready to let her go. Thank you for everything, my Treasure <3 <3 <3

I spent the night and much of the day gathering the strength to let her go ahead like we did in the woods. Whenever there was a bend in the road Farha would look over at me for permission to go on and only then vanished. And of course I know, as I did then, that she would and will be there, waiting for me behind the bend when I come to it in time.
