Olisipa kunnon työkalut! - Oh to have proper tools!

Obviously the pub needs a bar and I decided the best way to make that work is to remove part of the wall between the larger room and the "kitchen". Right... easy peasy ;)

Voin kertoa, että kun työkaluina on pelkät puukot, tommosen aukon tekeminen kestää näillä kätösillä hieman yli 5 tuntia :D Että sellasta oon tänään puuhastellut :D

I can tell you that making an opening like that using only knives takes a little over 5 hours, at least with these hands :D So this is what I've been doing today :D

Ollappa varaa Dremeliin!

I wish I could afford a Dremel!

Riisuttu malli - The stripped version

Ihastelua ja angstia - Admiration and angst

Se sai nimen The Troll & Trollop.

This is my new house (ignore the ones to the side of it). I put it n a prominent place in the living room and sat pondering it for a couple of days until I decided that it would make a great pub for the wizarding community of Bowtruckle Pines. I christened it The Troll & Trollop.

This all means, however, that some drastic renovations are called for... and boy is it difficult to do that when the house is one that someone has already poured a lot of work and love into - and very well too! It took a couple of weeks for me to work up the courage to begin a renovation that feels a bit sacrilegious!

First I carefully removed the electrical stuff. he floors are GORGEOUS and thank goodness they work well in a wizards' pub too, so they can remain as they are :) I'm SO happy to be able to retain some of the original owner's work!

Some rooms had very tightly glued cabinets/structures, that I tried to pry loose very slowly and carefully, to keep them from breaking in the process. The stairs for example were really nice. I had to remove them in sections, I just hope I can put them back together once I've finished redoing the walls and ceiling.

This room had the stuccoed fireplace I showed you in my previous post - I removed it for safekeeping and pried off those remaining tiles too after taking this pic.

This little room had a sauna so skillfully made that it was heart wrenching to remove it - I just couldn't see it in the pub. Luckily I eventually managed to get it loose pretty much intact, so I can reuse it somewhere else.

Keittiöstä irrotin kaapistot ja kaakelit tulevaa käyttöä varten.

I removed the kitchen cabinets and the tiles for future use.

The window panes had been made by scoring gelatine - very pretty, but they'd gotten pretty twisted. I'll make similar ones from another material :)

Uskoisitteko jos sanoisin... - Would you believe it if I said...

...that I have two new houses and a third "house" on the way? Yes yes, I know I already have a zillion projects in their infancy... But I got these as gifts! I couldn't pass that by - THANK YOU!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3

The actual house is this big one, which also has a terrace and a balcony!

Talon mukana tuli vino pino tavaraa, mm. kaikenlaista sähkötsydeemiä <3

The house came with lots of stuff including some electrical equipment <3

Toinen uusi rakennus on tämä suloinen talli!!

The other building is this lovely little stable!!

Ja tässä nuita talojen mukana tulleita ihanuuksia:

And here are the treasures that came with the houses:

I'm also waiting for an old aquarium that I'll turn into the mermaid dwelling I've been planning - and I got this for that project:

Lisää kirjoja - More books

Still working on books, up to 90 now. I have to start making more small books, since I've made a lot of bigger or at least thicker tomes like spellbooks.

Gilderoy hihityttää Griseldaa - Griselda giggles at Gilderoy

Bowtruckle Pines sai uuden asukkaan tänään kun Gilderoy Lockhart teki dramaattisen sisääntulon viitta hulmuten, tuoreeltaan kaukomailta tulleena. "On siinä keikaria kerrakseen", Griselda hekotteli. "Mitä mahtavat kylän muut velhot tuumata koreasta kollista?"

Bowtruckle Pines got a new inhabitant today as Gilderoy Lockhart made a dramatic entrance, cloak swishing , fresh from his journey from a faraway land. "My my, aren't you a dashing lad", Griselda chuckled. "I wonder what the village wizards will make of this dandy sorcerer?"

Gilderoy swept into Riddle's Rook and draped himself elegantly in Voldemort's chair. Although, if he knew who that chair belongs to, he might not be quite so nonchalant.

"Hihii, nytpäs sie tempun teit", Griselda naureskelee. "Odotappas kun Voldy kuulee tästä!" Lockhart ei huomaa Geiseldan vahingoniloa, herralla on liian kiire yrittää asettua näyttävään asentoon. Gilderoy parka ei taidakaan arvata, miten vaikeaa on tehdä vaikutusta vanhaan akkaan!

"Uh oh, now you've really done it", Griselda sniggers. "Just you wait until Voldy here's about this!" Lockhart doesn't notice her malicious glee, he's too busy trying to strike a flattering pose. Poor Gilderoy, I have a feeling he'll be shocked by how hard it is to impress the old hag!

Tätä en olekaan muistanut kuvata, nimittäin ajankääntäjä, vai miksi sitä suomeksi kutsutaankaan. Löytyi netistä törkyhalvalla :)

I've forgotten to show this acquisition of mine, a time turner I found online dirt cheap :)

Uusia kankaita - New fabrics

A great big thank you to Outi, who brought me all sorts of textiles - here are the ones that'll come in handy with minis :)

Kirjantekotekniikoita? - Book making techniques?

Mä en oo tehny kirjoja aiemmin ja ajattelin jakaa oman tekniikkani ja kysellä miten itse teette omanne?

I've never made books before and thought I'd show you my technique and ask you about yours?

Oon ostellu kirppareilta tällasia muutaman sentin maksavia kirjoja materiaaliksi. Vähän pyhäinhäväistykseltähän se kirjafanista tuntuu pilkkoa niitä, mut oon yrittäny valita huona kirjallisuutta tähän ;D Kannet leikkaan irti, hyvää askartelumateriaalia nekin.

I've bought books like these, that cost a few cents per book, at flea markets. For a book buff like me it does feel a bit sacrilegious to cut them up, but I've tried to pick bad out literature ;D I cut off the covers, which make good mini material as well.

Sit leikkaan kirjan eripaksuisiin osiin:

Then I cut the book into sections of varying thickness:

Next I cut the book as in the pic below. I only use the part closest to the back of the book, although I'll use some of the loose pages left over for scrolls. I use a ruler or other straight edged objects of the breadth I want and cut along them with a sturdy knife.

I use the tool below (no idea what it's called in English... also, does anyone know if one can buy new blades for it?) to cut the long piece into individual books.

Leikkaan kannet suht ohkasesta pahvista ja liimaan niihin kangasta tms. kansiksi.

I use pretty thin card for the book covers, gluing fabric or whatever onto them.

If I want to color the pages, I soak the books in strong tea for a couple of minutes and then dry them over night. Sometimes I gild the edges of the pages with gold marker and then I glue the covers on and after that I can start embellishing them.
